Wilde Speisekammer im Burgmannenhaus in Steinau an der Strasse

We arrived on the evening of Sept. 4, 2019 finding it closed and a phone number posted on the door. The owner promptly arrived and let us in and got us situated. No food service Tuesday eve as this was the beginning of their day off (Wed.). We found a good meal down the street at the Rosegarten. The next AM a wonderful breakfast was prepared for the four of us and another couple, that also didn't realize it was their day off. They have an excellent small shop where we found a local mustard which was excellent and wished we could have imported some but we managed to use it up before departing for home. It is right next to the Castle and would definitely recommend touring it. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to follow the Brothers Grimm trail or any other reason. Remember, this is a comfortable old but modern Guest house.

We were at the fairy tale dinner and slept in the badger den. Beautiful room in an old half-timbered house. The food was very mega and we really liked the fairy tales by Margot the storyteller. As always, it was very nice and after a delicious breakfast we drove home packed with wine, game goulash, salami and the delicious soup.

Very cozy little hotel with a great half-timbered atmosphere. Delicious food, good breakfast, nice vinotheque and, above all, perfect hospitality make your stay a pleasure. Great location next to the castle in the middle of town and yet absolutely quiet at night. Well equipped rooms with comfortable beds. It tasted very good, we had wild cream soup (grade 1), wild boar goulash with spaetzle (top) and meatloaf from wild boar and roe deer with fried potatoes (also full marks) and a very friendly and attentive service, it couldn't be better.

Yesterday I went to a fairy tale lunch incl. Coffee tasting in the Burgmannenhaus. There was roast venison with dumplings and red cabbage. Then 4 desserts including coffee tasting. Between the corridors, the storyteller got a word and the various coffee samples were explained! The event was absolutely great! Both the food, the coffee and the fairy tales fit together perfectly. The service was friendly and everything was very relaxed! I would recommend this type of event to anyone !!

The accommodation was OK for me. For a business trip that's enough. If I travel privately, I would spend a few euros more. Unfortunately there was no breakfast buffet, but the hostess was open for every wish. The menu of the restaurant of the same name is well arranged and well arranged. The game dishes are from their own, regional "selection" and really TipTop. Price performance is really right here. One should not be put off by the "old building". It is probably the oldest in the city.

I rate the restaurant. Very cool boss (I think time, she was the boss). Made me a wonderful tight Max conjured. The coffee is from the city's own roasting and tastes great. You can sit outside and keep an eye on the church. We recommend.

Very friendly, courteous and polite service. The food was perfect. Really good bourgeois food came on the table. Highly recommended if you sit outside you have a great view of the square with the fairy tale fountain.

It is a house of 1500 and does not have the comforts of a great hotel, but it does not matter, the place is magical, delicious, it transports you to another era. We were at an event of KuKi in Steinau. In Burgmannenhaus we spent a nice time. Starting with a very good dinner, courteous service, beautiful beer garden with a very old chestnut. There are game killed and processed by the boss himself. Well selected wines and a top tempered delicious beer on tap. The event afterwards was very entertaining. After a good night spent in the traditional half-timbered room, we fortified ourselves with a delicious breakfast, with home-made sausage, salami from the game, even cooked jams and a great coffee. Unfortunately we could spend only one night in this great atmosphere. We will gladly come back and tell everyone that the Burgmannenhaus is definitely worth a visit. Even the small sale in the entrance entices to ... keep it up ... see you soon

Restaurant rating: uncomfortable chairs (no seat cushions); Service not really helpful, careless. Average food. Here would come again, when the other restaurants are closed. We expected more.

We searched for a place to stay overnight and found this beautiful, 400 year old house. Surprisingly the friendly welcome and the good breakfast in the early morning. We have to come back, with more time to get to know the kitchen with such pleasure. See you soon, best regards from Berlin

So honestly ... I don't know where 4 stars come from. There was spaetzle from the bag with cheese. Granted, the freshly fried onions were delicious ... the potato pancakes were also finished products ... Maybe the game dishes are delicious ... But we just wanted a little something ...
